Sun Should Shine On Sunday's Fast Pain Relief 500 At Martinsville

Sunday will be the bright spot in a weekend of dark, rainy skies at Martinsville Speedway.

With the weatherman calling for sunny skies and temperatures near 70 degrees Sunday, it should be a perfect day for the Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway. The green flag is set to fly at 2 p.m.

Foul weather wiped out time trials for the Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 on Friday and forced the postponement of the Kroger 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race from Saturday afternoon to noon on Monday.

Tickets remain for both the Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 and the Kroger 250. The ticket office and fan gates open at 9 a.m. for both events.

Jeff Gordon was the big beneficiary of Friday's rain, earning the pole for the Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 by virtue of leading the NASCAR Sprint Cup points standings. Kurt Busch will start second, with Clint Bowyer third, Kyle Busch fourth and Carl Edwards fifth. Gordon and Bowyer are in Chevys while Kurt Busch is in a Dodge, Kyle Busch in a Toyota and Carl Edwards in a Ford.

'Honestly I think because of the pit road situation here, this is probably the most important place to start on the pole because you get that number one pit stall,"Gordon said. "Either way I feel like rain or shine we had a shot at getting it (the pole). This is one of our best tracks and certainly great timing for us to be leading the points because of the raid today."

Tickets for the Goody's Fast Pain Relief may be purchased at the Martinsville Speedway tickets office beginning at 8 a.m. Sunday. Tickets prices range from $62 to $77.
