Toy Drive A Big Hit With Community

(Reprinted From WSET website, December 12, 2008)

It's not every day you get to drive on a race track -- especially the Martinsville speedway. But plenty of people had the chance to do so Friday, just by helping a good cause.

Ready?Get Set.Go.  Okay, so they're not professional race car drivers, but some local folks had the chance to pretend today.

Don Coble , Donating Toys - "I'm here to donate some toys and take some laps around this track."

Don Coble drove from North Carolina -- just to drive around this track.

Coble - "I'm a big race fan and I wouldn't miss an opportunity to take my car around the race track."

And Wendy Durham, principal of an Elementary school in Martinsville showed up with fifteen members of her staff.

Wendy Durham, Donating Toys - "We're in the business with children and we know that times are hard and we've seen that in our school lately."

The toys go to the Grace Network -- an organization made up of more than 80 congregations in Martinsville and Henry County.

Pam Allen, Grace Network - "Everyone wants to help, to do something, instead of having a christmas party."

Durham - "We wanted to do what we could to help our community and this is one of the things we can do to help."

Giving toys, giving back, and getting a fun ride in return. A pretty nice deal for some race car fans.
