Fall Full Of Racing Excitement At Martinsville Speedway
Burt Myers works through the fourth turn in last year's Whelen 300.
With three full event weekends, it should be an exciting fall of racing at Martinsville Speedway.
The fall showcase will be the TUMS Fast Relief 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race on October 23, but there is plenty of racing in several different divisions scheduled for the historic half-mile in the next few months.
The TUMS Fast Relief 500 will be the sixth stop on the Chase for the Sprint Cup. It is the only short-track stop in the Chase, and, as always, should be one of the Chase-changing races.
The day before the TUMS Fast Relief 500, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will take to the track for the Kroger 200.
The fall excitement at Martinsville Speedway kicks off on September 26 and 27 with the Made In America Whelen 300 NASCAR Modified Tour race. The race pits the top NASCAR Modified drivers against the top NASCAR Southern Tour Modified drivers.
This year there will be a new twist to the Made In America Whelen 300 weekend with the addition of a NASCAR Limited Sportsman race. The Limited Sportsman Division is run at weekly tracks across the nation, but this will be one of the first times they’ve competed on the same track where Sprint Cup cars run.
Both the Modified and Limited cars will practice and time trial on Saturday, September 26. The Limiteds will run a 50-lap feature on Sunday, September 27, followed by the 250 lap Modified race.
The nation’s biggest and most prestigious NASCAR Late Model Stock race, the Bailey’s 300, will take the green flag at Martinsville Speedway On October 4. There will be more than 125 cars attempting to make the Bailey’s 300 in qualifying on October 3.
