Up Next: TUMS Fast Relief 500
3/31/2010
Denny Hamlin has made Martinsville Speedway a second home.
The TUMS Fast Relief 500 returns to historic Martinsville Speedway in just over three months for the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship battle. TUMS has been the title sponsor for the fall NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race three consecutive years.
The TUMS Fast Relief 500 is Sunday, Oct. 24 and the sixth of 10 races that will determine the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion. The track, built in 1947, provides fan-favorite items such as the famous Martinsville hot dog and the only short-track racing in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
Relief is a relative term when referring to hot dogs and short-track racing at Martinsville. Heartburn and upset stomachs are a matter of fact when competing on the .526-mile track where passing is difficult, tempers flare and pit road is a challenge.
By October 25, the championship contenders will rise to the top. Since the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup’s inception in 2004, a Chase contender has won each race at this paper-clip track. Every champion since 2004 has finished in the top five at the fall Martinsville race with an average race finish of 2.0.
Once again, TUMS has designated all fans attending the 2010 TUMS Fast Relief 500 as the “Official Starter” for the event. Each fan will receive a commemorative flag. Following the lead of the NASCAR flagman, fans will participate in the official start of the race.
Tickets to the TUMS Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway now are on sale. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call 877.722.3849 or visit www.martinsvillespeedway.com.
