Kyle Busch came into the STP 500 weekend at Martinsville Speedway with zero grandfather clocks. When the weekend was over, he left with two.

Busch, who also won Saturday’s Camping World Truck Series race, led a race high 352 laps in the STP 500 en route to the victory.

“Any time you get a cool trophy and want to find a cool place to put it, that's obviously a neat problem to have.,” Busch said. “You know, where they both go, I have no idea.  That's pretty special to be able to score not only one but two here.”

The final caution came out with just 15 laps to go. On the final restart, Busch first held off teammate Matt Kenseth and then AJ Allmendinger.

“Fortunately, with my restart it gave me enough of a gap to get out and I don't really know what happened behind me,” Busch said. “I guess Allmendinger ended up getting by Matt, because he finished second, but with those two racing each other a little bit side by side, it just kind of gave me the time that I needed in order to get a gap and get comfortable with what I had underneath me.”

Allmendinger’s second place finish tied his career best at Martinsville.

“We had a good qualifying, a great happy hour and early in the race we weren’t quite where we wanted to be, and we got our car really really good on the long runs. ” Allmendinger said. “That’s kind of where I thought we shined.”

Kyle Larson, who like Busch ran the Alpha Energy Solutions 250 Camping World Truck Series race on Saturday, finished third.

“I was able to do double-duty this week and I think that definitely helped me get my rhythm early in the weekend and better myself each time I was on the track,” Larson said.

Austin Dillon and Brad Keselowski rounded out the top-5.

There were 11 lead changes among five drivers and the race was slowed by caution eight times for a total of 51 laps.

The Sprint Cup Series returns to Martinsville Speedway for the Goody’s® Fast Relief 500 race weekend Oct. 28-30, 2016.
