The infield at Martinsville Speedway was filled with first responders, heavy equipment, race cars and kids, all as a part of the Charity League of Martinsville and Henry County’s third annual Touch-A-Truck.

The event gives kids the opportunity to climb on and in all sorts of vehicles they might not otherwise have, while raising money for initiatives the Charity League supports through the area.

“We really put this on as a community event for children to interact with these vehicles on a one-on-one basis, as well as to raise money for services we provide the community such as scholarships, Brighter Christmas, eye screenings and other things,” Rachel Wingfield of the Charity League said.

For the race track, Touch-A-Truck is a way to give back to the community, while helping give kids a memory that will last a lifetime.

“What the Charity League for our area is great. They’re always looking to help those in need,” Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell said. “For the kids, we want them to be able to experience things they will tell their friends about. Where else can they climb in a helicopter, a race car and a school bus all in the same day?”

Racing returns to Martinsville Speedway in October, first with the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 Late Model Stock Car race on October 16 and the Goody’s Fast Relief 500 race weekend October 28-30.

Tickets for both weekends are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 877.RACE.TIX or online at www.martinsvillespeedway.com
