Earles’ Contributions to NASCAR Recognized by NASCAR Hall of Fame
Pioneer, as defined by Merriam-Webster, is “a person who begins or helps develop something new and prepares the way for others to follow.” When it comes to NASCAR and stock car racing Martinsville Speedway Founder H. Clay Earles certainly fits the bill. Seventy years after building the half-mile race track Earles’ work will be recognized forever, as he is the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s 2017 Landmark Award recipient, an award given for “outstanding contributions to NASCAR.”
The first night race will be the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 on September 23

Martinsville Speedway Announces Date of First Night Race

Mark the calendar. History will happen on September 23, as Martinsville Speedway will host the first race under the track’s new LED lighting system.
The first light poles at Martinsville Speedway are going up. Light Up Martinsville will be completed in January.

First Light Poles Installed at Martinsville

Martinsville Speedway’s “Light Up Martinsville” project hit a major milestone Tuesday as the first of 19 light poles was put in place. The project will make the track the first major motorsports facility in the United States to have LED lighting.

Martinsville Speedway Debuts New Logo for 70th Anniversary

In celebration of 70 years, the track will have a special 70th anniversary logo and will brand itself as “The Original,” an homage to its being the only track remaining from NASCAR’s original 1949 schedule.

There, he will vie for his historic seventh title, which would place him in a tie with Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt for the most ever.
