Sprague Handles Cold Track For Kroger 200 Pole
Starting Lineup

Jack Sprague went from last to first in a hurry at Martinsville Speedway Friday afternoon.

Sprague was the last truck to attempt to qualify for Saturday's Kroger 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway and he went right to the front with a speed of 95.675 mph around the .526-mile oval. It was his second pole of the season and 29th of his career.

"It was cold and slippery by the time I ran and I about knocked the wall down in Turn 1 on my warm-up lap."

Mike Skinner, who leads Sprague by one in career poles, will start outside on the front row Saturday after qualifying second.

Veteran Ted Musgrave earned the third spot while Marcus Ambrose, an Australian in his first season of American stock car racing, nailed down the fourth spot.

Fifth went to Erik Darnell, who is leading the truck series point race.

The Kroger 200 field will have a definite NEXTEL Cup Series feel to it. Mark Martin and Kyle Busch, both in the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup, will start eighth and ninth, while another Chaser, Denny Hamlin, will start 19th.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points leader Todd Bodine will start seventh.

Tickets remain for the Kroger 200 and may be purchased at the ticket office at Martinsville Speedway Saturday. The Kroger 200 takes the green flag at 1:15 p.m. Saturday.
