MARTINSVILLE, Va. (May 29, 2020) – Martinsville Speedway (Martinsville) and local partners announce Celebration 2020 has officially been canceled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Celebration, a Martinsville tradition for over two decades, is an annual event around Independence Day with the largest fireworks display in the region. Martinsville and local partners plan for Celebration to return in July 2021.
“Given the current situation in our region, it is in the best interest of public safety to cancel this year’s Celebration 2020,” said Martinsville President Clay Campbell. “Thanks to our loyal partners who help make this event so special for our community and Henry County each year. Together we are committed to bringing back Celebration in 2021.”
Celebration 2021 is tentatively scheduled to return around the Fourth of July holiday. It will be one of the two largest non-racing events scheduled at Martinsville next year, along with the Henry County Fair slated for early fall. Full details on both events will be announced in the future.
Martinsville 2020 Season
The final stop for the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series championships will lead through Martinsville on Oct. 30 to Nov. 1. “The Short Track” will host the penultimate races for the NASCAR Cup Series with the Xfinity 500 on Sunday, Nov. 1, NASCAR Xfinity Series on Saturday, Oct. 31, and NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series on Friday, Oct. 30.
The ValleyStar Credit Union 300, the nation’s biggest, richest and most prestigious NASCAR Late Model Stock Car race, will return for an evening of intense competition at Martinsville on Saturday, Sept. 26
