Kyle Busch Wins Alpha Energy Solutions 250

Kyle Busch wins the Alpha Energy Solutions 250 Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville.

After 31 tries, Kyle Busch can finally call himself a winner at Martinsville Speedway.

The 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion held off John Hunter Nemechek and a host of others on several late-race restarts to take the checkered flag in Saturday afternoon's Alpha Energy Solutions 250.

Busch led 123 of 255 laps en route to his 45th career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win in his first start of the young season.

More importantly, he'll be bringing home his first grandfather clock as a winning driver at the historic track.

“I'm sure (Samantha) will figure it out," Busch said. "This is just a day that we've been looking for for a long, long time. It's neat to win here at Martinsville. I love when they do it up here on the front stretch for everyone to be up close and personal."

The race featured 11 cautions for 68 laps, in addition to two abbreviated red flag periods in the final 25 laps brought on by a pair of multi-truck incidents.

In other words, typical Martinsville.

Behind Nemechek, rookie William Byron turned in another impressive performance with a third-place finish, followed by Kyle Larson and Virginia native Timothy Peters.

Nineteen-year-old polesitter Ben Rhodes, also a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rookie, finished 16th in his Alpha Energy Energy Solutions Toyota after leading 42 laps in the race's early stages.

Busch now has an opportunity to sweep the weekend at the half-mile oval when he starts seventh in Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series STP 500. The green flag is scheduled to drop at 1:13 p.m.

Tickets remain for the STP 500 and may be purchased online at or at the Martinsville Speedway ticket office.
