Henry County Fair Finds A Home
MARTINSVILLE, Va. (February 20, 2020) – The Henry County Fair will return in 2021 and when the four-day event is held it will be at a new location.
For the first time in several years, officials came together to plan the family-friendly fair for residents of Henry County and the surrounding area. While specific dates have yet to be determined for the 2021 fair, the location and companion event have already been confirmed.
Martinsville Speedway has been selected as the location for the Fair when it returns next year.
“We are excited to be the home of the new Henry County Fair and thrilled that it will be held in conjunction with one of our premiere events held each fall at the track,” said Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell. “Having four days of fun at the Fair and leading into race weekend for the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 seems like a perfect fit. I know I can’t wait for it to get here.”
Significant lead time is required to book acts and vendors, but the time is being put to good use by Henry County staff members and the Henry County Fair Committee that has been formed. Roger Adams, Director of Parks and Recreation for Henry County, said plans for the Fair are coming together.
“We’re going to give the people what they want to see,” said Adams. “Folks can look forward to traditional rides, great live music, a variety of food options, and other entertainment acts throughout the schedule. And to finish our week with the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway is the icing on the cake. I don’t know of any other county fair that can provide such an action-packed week.”
More details on featured music and entertainment acts for the fair will be released as they become available. A dedicated website will soon be unveiled that will be the go-to spot for event updates.
The ValleyStar Credit Union 300 is the biggest NASCAR-sanctioned Late Model race of the year and has been held at Martinsville Speedway since 1985 and won last season by Josh Berry driving for Dale Earnhardt Jr.-owned JR Motorsports.
